CURRENT ISSUES

Garbage Problem

Grabage disposal in public areas is a big problem. Boards warning against littering in public places have been placed at many places in the area. We are planning to introduce cameras to monitor all sensitive area from January-2013. Information collected from the Cameras will be handed over to the police for follow up action.

Residents are urged to make use of Kudumbasree for plastic waste disposal and use the Compost pipes for organic waste processing.

Sustainability practices followed by each resident reducing waste and processing of waste at source is the only viable way to go in the long term.

Safety and Security

Chain snatching has been a big problem in the area and has resurfaced recently. We strongly advice ladies not to wear gold chains while walking on the roads particularly during early morning ours, afternoons, and late evening.

Concrete action by the police and awareness by the public has reduced the number of robberies and theft in the area over the last 2 years. Let us make sure that we do not let down their vigil.

From time to tome we will form patrolling groups in conjunction with Janamythry police whenever the need arises.

Traffic rules and Parking

Unauthorized parking is a problem in the area. Particularly on Elamana Road near NSS College entrance during functions at Abishekam convention centre is a big problem. Another problem area is the narrow road near NSS Hall. We are working with the City traffic police to make sure that parking rules are enforced in these areas.

All residents are urged to follow traffic rules including recommended speed limits for residential areas
